Label expansion granted to Insight herbicide from Gowan Canada

November 21, 2022  By Top Crop Manager

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency has granted a label expansion to Insight 339SC herbicide from Gowan Canada. The label now includes control of wild oat and volunteer canola, and upgrades efficacy against lamb’s quarters, wild buckwheat and redroot pigweed from suppression to control.

Insight 339SC herbicide, powered by Tergeo, is registered as a pre-seed burndown herbicide in spring wheat and corn and will be available for use in the 2023 growing season as a new active ingredient from the Group 14 mode of action category. Insight herbicide provides wheat and corn growers with a fast-acting solution to their pre-seed burndown strategy, and provides exceptional control of wild oats.

“It was essential that control of wild oats be on the label from the start. With the incidence of biotypes of wild oats resistant to other modes of action increasing across Canada, the need for solutions to this expanding problem are immediate,” said Dale Ziprick, product manager for Gowan Canada, in a press release.

In addition to wild oat, Insight will also control an array of broadleaf weeds, including volunteer canola, kochia, lamb’s quarters, wild buckwheat, and redroot pigweed.
